টেস্ট ক্রিকেট ইতিহাসে সর্বোচ্চ রান সংগ্রহ এর তালিকায় প্রথম স্থান ভারতের কিংবদন্তি শচীন টেন্ডুলকার যার রানের সংখ্যা ১৫৯২১ ইনিংসের সংখ্যা ৩২৯ টি।তার পরে দ্বিতীয় অবস্থা ছিলো আর এক কিংবদন্তি রিকি পন্টিং (অস্ট্রেলিয়া): ১৩৩৭৮ রান,তৃতীয় অবস্থানে ছিলো  (দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা) জ্যাক ক্যালিস ১৩২৮৯ রান চতুর্থ অবস্থানে ছিলো ভারতের আর এক কিংবদন্তি রাহুল দ্রাবিড় : ১৩২৮৮ রান,এবং পঞ্চম অবস্থানে ছিলো ইংল্যান্ডের অ্যালিস্টার কুক ১২৪৭১ রান। 

ভারত বনাম ইংল্যান্ডের চতুর্থ টেস্ট জো রুট ইতিহাসের সব রেকর্ড ভেঙে দেন শুধু মাত্র কিংবদন্তি শচীন টেন্ডকারের রেকর্ড ছাড়া, বর্তমান জো রুট ইংল্যান্ডের হয়ে টেস্ট ক্রিকেট খেলেছেন ২৮৬ ইনিংস ৫১.১৮ গড়ে  রান করেছেন ১৩৪০৯ রান যা কি না টেস্ট ক্রিকেটের ইতিহাসের সর্বোচ্চ দ্বিতীয় রান।
